Photos of the Chainsaw Massacre site

With the exception of the aerial photo, the following photos were taken May 14, 2004, as activists gathered near the property with trees they hoped to donate to replace the trees lost in the massacre. All photos were taken by Dan Frazier. These photos may be reproduced freely without concern about copyright infringement. Higher resolution images are available upon request.

Notice that there are no tree stumps on the property. The damaged trees were removed completely, roots and all, presumably at the direction of the property owner.  The city required that the damaged trees be cut down to avoid the possibility that they would fall down unexpectedly, possibly causing injuries or property damage. However, it is doubtful that the city required that the stumps and roots be removed. The removal of the stumps and roots creates a new threat -- there could be a mud slide when the moonsoon rains come.
